Bitcoin Romance: The Author

Interview in a studio about the book 'Bitcoin Romance: Forbidden Love'.

Journalist: Today, I am speaking with a woman whose singular journey is shaking up the conventions of traditional romance. Cassie K. Vandercroft, good morning. To start with the classic, yet essential question: who are you, truly?

Cassie K. Vandercroft: Good morning! I’d define myself first and foremost as a dreamer possessed by an overactive imagination. Professionally speaking, I have an academic background in communications and work within the media industry. But there is a very pragmatic side to me as well: I’m an active—and I must say, rather successful—investor, both in the stock market and real estate. It’s this blend of creativity and financial rigor that forges my identity.

Journalist: Your new novel explores the often opaque world of cryptocurrency. How did you first become interested in it?

Cassie K. Vandercroft: It was my opportunistic streak that took over! In February 2026, when the crypto market lost half its value, I wanted to dive in to see if there was a genuine opportunity for gain. Upon digging deeper, I discovered an immense gap in perception. To a rational observer, cryptocurrency seems inseparable from polarizing figures or movements like MAGA. I used to think it was reserved for the "anti-establishment" crowd.

Then, I realized the sheer maturity of this technology and its incredible potential, especially with the rise of Artificial Intelligence. I began to imagine our world five years from now: a future where Bitcoin might replace the US dollar and gold. This vision inspired me to craft a cryptocurrency romance, intertwining the complexities of finance with a forbidden love story, as I felt a longing to tell the narrative of this major transition through the prism of romance.

Journalist: Indeed—tell us about the plot of Bitcoin Romance. What is it actually about?

Cassie K. Vandercroft: Above all, it’s a great love story, a cryptocurrency romance that centers on a forbidden love between two souls from opposite worlds: on one side, those who made their fortunes with the Bitcoin explosion, and on the other, the 'new poor'—the 'BT-Lates'—those who missed the boat. It all unfolds in an authoritarian world where private enterprise has overtaken the state due to the economic shift. Despite this setting, it’s a very human book. One becomes attached to the characters, like little Lilly. There’s action, emotion, and a quest, but also a sharp critique of the excesses of this system.

Journalist: You speak about criticism, yet you invest in it yourself. Isn’t that a bit contradictory?

Cassie K. Vandercroft: Not at all. I believe the dream of Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin, was a noble one: a decentralised, uncensorable system for greater equality. But every utopia carries the risk of straying off course. Look at Karl Marx: he had ideas of social justice, yet the actual application of communism led to appalling tragedies. That is what could threaten Satoshi’s ideal. Currently, it’s the large private corporations accumulating Bitcoin, rather than the average person on the street. That is a risk. I believe in the potential, but I dread the ideal being reclaimed by an elite.

A romantic embrace between a couple in a dimly lit alley, symbolizing forbidden love with Bitcoin.

Journalist: We often imagine authors who tackle these subjects as 'geeks' obsessed with computing. Is that the case for you?

Cassie K. Vandercroft: Not in the slightest! And that’s precisely why this novel isn’t aimed at geeks. My goal was to demystify cryptocurrency for people like my mother or my sister, who know absolutely nothing about it. I want them to understand, because cryptocurrency will have a tangible impact on their lives very soon. It’s an accessible, human book that simplifies the basics, all while weaving in elements of a cryptocurrency romance that anyone can relate to.

Journalist: The scenario you depict is radical. Some might find this future rather unsettling. Is it your intention to frighten your readers?

Cassie K. Vandercroft: Absolutely not. It’s fiction! I’ve seen Jaws several times and I still go for a swim in the ocean! But it is based on very real premises—just as there are Great Whites in the sea. I work from the postulate that Bitcoin increases a thousand times in value. Historically, it’s done so before. Will it happen again? Some believe it heart and soul. I wanted to scratch at that idea to see where it would lead us. The book is an explanation of sorts, but it’s also a questioning of the excesses this new world could engender, much like a forbidden love story that explores the complexities of our evolving relationship with technology.

Journalist: Let’s move on to a few quick-fire questions to get to know you better. How old are you? Cassie K. Vandercroft: I was born in 1995, in the autumn. At the very moment a certain dream was flickering out in my home country. I shall say no more! Journalist: And which country is that? Cassie K. Vandercroft: I’d prefer not to say. I consider myself a woman of the world today. I’ve visited over thirty countries. Cryptocurrency has no borders, and neither do I. Journalist: Which of your travels have left the greatest impression? Cassie K. Vandercroft: Asia, without a doubt: Japan and South Korea. I also did a grand tour of Europe. My favourites were Malta, Amsterdam, Berlin, Croatia, Greece… and the whole of Italy and Scandinavia. It’s hard to choose! And more recently South America, notably Brazil and Argentina. Journalist: Where is the place you feel truly at peace? Cassie K. Vandercroft: Anywhere, so long as I’m with my loved ones. But I have two anchors: my personal sanctuary in Florida, and Paris, always. Journalist: To conclude, since you speak so eloquently about investment, one can’t help but ask: how much cryptocurrency do you actually hold? Cassie K. Vandercroft: I have some, yes. But I won’t say how much. And it’s quite recent—since February 2026. Had I known, I’d have invested much sooner. But true to my strategy, I never put all my eggs in one basket. I keep my stock market assets and my real estate portfolio. One thing is important to clarify: my upcoming book, which explores themes of cryptocurrency romance and a forbidden love story, is a creative exploration; it is by no means investment advice!
